The County Museum at Hartlebury Castle has just launched their new temporary exhibition 'Hoards, Handbags and Highwaymen' which looks at how people have made, saved, moved, used & lost their money over the last 1,000 years.  

The exhibition features the first full display of the Bredon Hill Hoard, a treasure trove of nearly 4,000 Roman coins which was discovered by metal detector enthusiasts in June 2011 on Bredon Hill in the Vale of Evesham

Museums Worcestershire cares for many thousands of objects, from archaeology to costume, furniture to social history. Only a small amount of these can be on display at any one time, the rest are held at the Collections Centre, our off-site stores. An exhibition of watercolours and drawings by Norman Neasom RWS, RBSA (1915 to 2010).

Norman was an artist who found inspiration for his art through a combination of history, poetry and the countryside. We see through his paintings the love of his home town of Redditch with his fascination for its characters and local buildings as well as its monastic and industrial history.  His affection for the Cotswolds and the Welsh valleys and hills are also beautifully portrayed with his wonderful depiction of country life and its people.  His work was also influenced by poets such as AE Housman and RS Thomas, as well as many local places of interest and a few from the artist’s own rich imagination. All will be featured in this exhibition of work taken from the era when Norman was teaching at Redditch New College through to his retirement years.
